Master in International Business and Management

The Master in International Business and Management is a unique joint, double degree programme between Hanze UAS, The Netherlands and Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, UK, leading to the following two awards:

Master in International Business and Management by Hanze UAS
Master of Arts in International Business by ARU Cambridge
This programme is designed for students with a wide interest in international business and management, who are aiming at a senior management position. All subjects and modules are placed in an international context. The demands placed upon the manager are subject to increasing changes, which arise from the changes that take place in the international business environment and usually effects all business operations.


The Master in International Business and Management programme is a 17-month full-time postgraduate programme for graduates of business and business-related disciplines, e.g. economics or management studies. The programme challenges students to apply business management theory to current international business practice. It prepares graduates for international management positions by focusing on corporate strategy, marketing, operations, accounting and human resource management, all from an international business perspective.


Program Structure

The Master in International Business & Management
programme consists of two semesters of course work and
one semester of applied research in a business context within
a period of 17 months, starting in September each year and
ending in January of the following academic year. The
total size of the programme is 90 ECTS. Students may opt to
participate in a double degree programme, in which case they
have to spend the second semester at Anglia Ruskin University
(ARU) in Cambridge, England. The entire programme is
taught in English.

First Semester


The first semester begins with a introduction week, to build
group cohesion and enhance personal effectiveness. The first
semester offers the following subjects:

Marketing Management
Human Resource Management
Personal Development & Leadership
Strategic Management
Economics and Business in the European Union
International Business Environment
Second Semester

The second semester focuses on the following subjects:

Financial Management and Accounting
Operations Management
Business Research Methods
Intercultural Competences in Business
Innovation & Entrepreneurship
International Marketing
Third Semester


The third semester is focused on conducting applied research
within a relevant business setting which is the basis for
writing the Master thesis. Besides providing the essential
knowledge of international business and management during
the first two semesters, you are required to select a topic and a
business setting for your Master thesis already during the first
semester, and further develop your thesis proposal during the
second semester. The actual research and writing the thesis are
undertaken during the third semester.

Please Note

The Master in International Business and Management is a direct-entry master that will be offered for the first time in September 2013. Due to the fact that the master is a derivative of the professional post-experience MBA in International Business and Management which is currently being run, the new master is not officially in theStudielinkapplication database yet. As soon as the last group of students from the MBA in International Business & Management will graduate, the new Master will be listed inStudielink. This means that although the new Master will be offered as of coming September, interested students have to apply for the current programme MBA in International Business and Management.

The International Student Office (ISO) handles all applications of foreign students who want to enrol for this study programme..
